Successful participatory workshop for sustainable solutions in rural areas

On 18 February 2025, the Sežana incubator hosted a co-partnership workshop as part of the EU project SMART ERA, pilot Šmarje/Padna. Participants learned about and tested the ToyotaGo on-demand transport service.

After a presentation of the app, the transport system, and a discussion with representatives of the municipalities of Sežana, Koper and Piran and local communities, participants drove ToyotaGo vehicles to Lipica, where they analysed the applicability of sustainable solutions based on practical experience and participatory qualitative methods.

In the Smart Innovation Package (SIP) workshop, facilitated by Mag. Nataša Božić, Dr. Nina Cvar and Dr. Jure Trilar, participants used the new SIP methodology developed in the SMART ERA project to review and synthesise the participants’ experiences to date and the key organisational, technological, legal and infrastructural elements of such solutions.

The event was organised by the project partners Rotunda Centre and the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Electrical Engineering.
