In Brussels, FBK showcased the project’s progress in technological co‑design, sustainability and new solutions for rural territories

At the LEADER & Territorial Development Subgroup , the space within the EU CAP Network where EU Member State administrations and CAP stakeholders work together on rural development and the LEADER approach, our coordinator Matteo Gerosa from Fondazione Bruno Kessler presented the latest developments of the SMART ERA project.

The 4th Subgroup, which brings together managing authorities, national networks and Local Action Groups to guide the thematic work of the network, focused on policy and implementation updates across EU CAP Network activities, on sharing progress from its members, and on defining key topics.

In this context, Matteo Gerosa highlighted the key achievements of the SMART ERA project, showing how an approach based on technological co‑design and sustainability models is helping strengthen the capacities of rural areas across Europe.

During the session, Matteo introduced the Smart Innovation Package (SIP), a methodology that brings together end‑user participation, flexible technologies and a long‑term vision focused on replicability.

The results of the project’s first Open Call were also presented, with 11 selected add‑on projects that are bringing new innovative solutions to the pilot areas.

The presentation marked an important step in taking stock of the progress achieved so far and in opening a new phase of collaboration among European regions, with the shared goal of developing digital tools that respond more closely to the real needs of local communities.

Stay tuned to follow upcoming updates and the next steps for SMART ERA.
